Athens is at an increased risk of developing Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) causing progressive vision loss resulting in blindness.   PRA is a genetically inherited condition that is not painful and gradually progresses.

Athens, racing name JA’s Athens, is a 2 year old boy who decided early that racing is not for him. All he needs is love. He has perfect leash manners on walks except for those moments when he sees another human and becomes so excited at the possibility that more scritches might be in stores.

This brindle boy sports a dark and handsome face, white socks, and a curiosity for everything he hears. He is quickly learning “down” in his crate at mealtimes and progressing well with stairs, although they are still puzzling sometimes. His motivation to work on this is his foster family’s attention more so than tasty treats.

He is unfazed by large dogs on walks and is getting along well with both the resident greyhound and Weim. Small dogs met on walks remain uncertain at this point as do those fascinating squirrels.

At this point he is least vocal when he has his greyhound cousin near his crate for company. Athens is both a leaner and a cuddler when on his short breaks from the crate and thinks dog beds are the bomb!

He’ll be available for approved adopter visits starting 09/19/20.
