Special Needs Boy in search of a Special Home
Geek has been diagnosed with an advanced stage, degenerative, genetic retinal disease which will result in blindness. Geek currently has very limited daytime vision and virtually no nighttime vision. Geek’s prognosis is he will be completely blind in 3-6 months.
Geek must be placed in a home with another large breed dog – preferably a greyhound. In consultation with a Veterinary Ophthalmologist, blind dogs do very well in a home with another dog and a stable home environment. With a sighted resident dog and a stable home environment, a blind dog can navigate their home, enjoy walks, and live a happy life with their human.
Despite Geek’s limited vision, he has learned to navigate his foster home and is beginning to enjoy walks with the resident greyhounds as his guides. As he learns about his foster home, he is becoming very affectionate and wants nothing more than to make his people happy! The Geek loves his crate and feels safe when he is in it, but he is also beginning to look forward to the ear scritches he gets when he comes out to socialize. He sleeps quietly in his crate during the work day and at night.
The Geek is looking for a forever home with a resident dog as his companion, and a human that will be very patient with him and can establish a stable environment for him. The Geek will be a very happy homebody and very loyal to a patient, loving owner.
If you or someone you know can give Geek a home, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
Thank you for helping Geek.
