On Hold – Recuperating
Greco is an 82lb boy who has a surgically repaired broken leg which has healed very nicely. We are working to toughen up the pad on that foot since he hasn’t been using it for a while and the ice salt has irritated it. He will occasionally kangaroo hop on three legs if that pad is particularly tender. Currently, he wears a boot on that foot when he is outside to protect it from all the ice salt, but he has started to walk on it and we anticipate it will soon heal completely.
He is settling down nicely into retirement and rests quietly all night, waking at about 7 am with a quiet whine to be taken outside. He is learning about “away time” and is improving daily. He has started to walk politely on a loose leash most of the time. He is a medium/high energy boy who is very interested in all the small animals and dogs he sees on his walks, so at this time it’s not recommended he live with small dogs, cats or small children. He is very gentle and polite with humans and the resident greyhound, and loves attention, is happy to be groomed, bathed, or just loved on with ear rubs, rump scratches, and gentle massages. Greco is very food motivated and is a quick learner – he learned the “down” command in three sessions. It is anticipated he will be very easy to teach in the future.
Greco is on hold as he recuperates. Check back for status.
