Haydon, racing name Hang On Haydon, is a shy timid boy who is slowly growing more confident every day.  He loves his crate but has started spending more time lounging on dog beds.  Once he warms up to you, he loves attention and welcomes scratches with ear and belly rubs. He’s also discovered toys and loves playing with squeakies and balls.

He gets along great with the resident greyhounds and is doing well with the resident cats.  He loves food and treats and his very food motivated.  We’re working on stairs but not quite there yet.  He still loves his crates and is generally quiet but does get a little whiney at times.  He sleeps through the night but is an early riser.
He’s decided that he enjoys going on early morning and late evening walks when it’s a little quieter and he can search out the squirrels and rabbits, such fun!  He prefers to avoid strangers, so these quieter times have less people out and about.  He usually walks nicely on a leash, with an occasion pull when one of the pesky critters makes an appearance.  He’s a little interested in other dogs but is usually easily redirected.  He’ll do well in the suburbs as long as there is a quieter, less busy area to explore and will happily wander around at a steady pace.  Large trucks, motorcycles and busses are still a little scary.
He’s also decided he likes to explore the woods on hikes.  We’ve been going to trails that aren’t very crowded and invited some of his new greyhound buddies along and he has a great time.
He’s looking for a home who’s willing to be patient and let him ease into his new home at his own pace. He will need a single family home with a yard since he may be a little nervous in the beginning and apartments, condos and city life are going to be overwhelming.  No small dogs or small children either.
If you’re looking for a guy who with a little time will enjoy spending time with his people and going on adventures in less populated places, Haydon is your guy.  He’s currently available for approved adopter visits.
