Mikey is a handsome fawn boy with a little white on his toes.  He has gorgeous brown eyes, a soft coat, and a great disposition.  There have been many new sights and sounds to experience at his horse farm foster home.  He confidently wanted to meet the horses nose to nose, and did so on his first day. When something catches his eye, he stops and stares with full attention on the object of his interest.  He has never lunged at or shown any interest in chasing – whether it was the squirrel 25 feet away, the horses running in the field, or the midsize or small dog in the house – and after a few seconds, he moves on.  So he is easily distracted away from interesting things and seems very willing to do what you want him to do.   His leash manners need tweaking, as he is a little strong for when the walk begins and he wants to weave.  But after a couple minutes, he is walking by my side on a relaxed leash with no pulling for the rest of the walk. Foster mom and dad walked him and the resident greyhound together with muzzles on, and both enjoyed a relaxing smooth walk together on the farm.  He does very little whining and sleeps quietly throughout the night in his crate.  He goes potty pretty quickly when taken out to do his business, and cleans his dish at every meal.  Of course he thoroughly enjoys having his ears scratched and head and body massaged.  When he is very alert, his ears are straight up, forming a snappy triangle above his head.  Sometimes one ear is up and the other down, giving him a cute happy-go-lucky appearance.  It looks like Mikey is going to be a gem of a dog for some lucky adopter.  He’ll be available for approved adopter visits beginning 2/7/2020.
