This 6-video series explains how Greyhound Welfare Inc. finds “fur-ever homes” for retired racing greyhounds. This series was conceived and created by Katie Groen as her Girl Scout Gold Award Project. The Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA and is earned by fewer than 6% of eligible scouts.

The videos, which took more than a year to complete, have been a labor of love for Katie. Katie lives in the neighborhood of a Greyhound Welfare foster family. For several years she has become the big sister to the foster family’s own greyhounds (and resident beagle) and eagerly awaits the arrival of every new foster dog, spending countless hours helping them make the transition from professional athlete to retirement.

Greyhound Welfare appreciates all the hard work Katie has done on this project as well as the dedication, care and professionalism reflected in the final videos. These videos are helping educate the public about the need to place retired racing greyhounds in adoptive homes, encouraging others to get involved in the process and raising awareness about their uniqueness.

The videos are also increasing understanding of the need to find “fur-ever homes” for all animals in need of one and encouraging more people to volunteer with their local animal rescue organizations.
