Smokey, racing name Ponda’s Smokey, is a 3 year old boy who ran 65 races. He has black coat, and weighs about 72 pounds. He is very curious, and enjoys investigating any fascinating new smells or views he found during walks (people driving golf carts are just mesmerizing!).
He crates very nicely throughout the night, but can be a little vocal during the day especially if he can hear the activities in house but can’t see the person. Luckily, his whinings are not very loud or long lasting so far. He hasn’t started on stairs yet due to neuter restriction, but he is already an expert with 3-4 outdoor stairs. He seems quite comfortable with the hardwood floors, doesn’t seem to have space aggression, and waits politely for food (although he always gives a stand ovation for the dog bowl).
He behaves quite well on walks as well. He is still learning how to walk on a loose leash, but has already improved a lot in just a couple days. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by any loud noises or moving cars/trucks. Squirrels and smaller dogs capture his attention, but he doesn’t seem to be very aggressive towards them, and can be redirected easily (golf carts are harder to look away!). He has shown high interests in meeting other dogs, but I haven’t given him any chance so far. He is not a fan of barking dogs, but doesn’t react much other than whines a little.
He seems very comfortable with being handled. Standing still and quietly during the ear cleaning, brushings, and paw inspections.
He’ll be available for approved adopter visits starting 12/05/2020.
