Spark Plug, racing name LK’s Throwback, is a super soft, 72-lb brindle boy who’s raced 74 races. Spark Plug is a lower energy, gentle giant. He’s a very quiet boy who loves being with his people. Spark Plug also loves his crate and will go there very willingly but he likes exploring. He loves good stretches, long pets from his people, and roaching while sleeping. He is not shy about asking for more pets either by putting his leg out. And hilariously, his tail wags in a circle when he’s happy or sees his people. His playful side is coming out a bit more and he is playing more with toys, shaking them about for a few minutes.
Spark Plug’s learning his way around our city neighborhood, enjoying all the new sights, sounds, and smells on walks and getting to know our local dogs. He is generally a good walker and does not generally pull on the leash, but can meander a bit to find that next great smell and may pull to reach it. He is also doing well with city bathroom etiquette, learning well where best to do his business. Spark Plug hasn’t met a dog yet he hasn’t wanted to meet and has done well with all sizes of dogs and puppies. He loves meeting people too, but no real interest in squirrels and birds. Cat trainable as he could be distracted when a cat was around and even ran by him. Limited experience with children but did well with them, showing interest and being gentle, and he also takes treats gently. City sounds have not affected him either.
Spark Plug is generally well-mannered and will listen to direction without food motivation. And if he’s feeling lazy and doesn’t want to head outside, treats do get him moving pretty easily. Spark Plug trains easily with food as well; he’s already familiar with “down”, “crate”, and “stay” commands. He is going up and down outside stairs with aplomb and is not phased by hardwood floors. Spark Plug loves taking in all the smells at the house but has been good about not counter surfing or looking for food when we eat; sometimes he will even settle down happily in the other room while we are eating. He’s an all-around lovable guy!
