Honeybee, racing name Oshkosh Honeybee is a 3-year-old who retired after 51 races. She is a gorgeous girl with stunning “makeup” and lives up to her name with a beautiful honey-colored coat and a sweet disposition to match.  She is always wagging her tail and loves to give kisses.  She met the resident hounds with no fuss and has settled nicely.  She is an early riser and will let you know it is time to start the day (way too early), but we are working on that.  Otherwise, after some initial complaining, she settles in quietly for the night.

Honeybee likes going for walks and after initial exuberance, calms down nicely and walks well on the leash.  She did encounter a bunny, which she initially tried to chase until she realized she was tethered to a human.  She has seen other dogs of all sizes from a distance and is, at best, just curious.  She is fine with loud traffic and city noises.  Our street is being dug up and I have to walk her by loud construction noise and it does not faze her. She likes her treats and mastered her “down” very quickly.  Overall, she is a precious, affectionate young lady looking for her forever home.
Honeybee continues to blossom in her home.  She has learned “sit” as well as “down” and listens very well.  She still prefers her crate over the multiple dog beds but she finally laid down on one.  She has started playing with toys! She has learned the stairs and goes up and down with a little coaxing.  She also is good on hard floor surfaces.  She continues to be completely unfazed by loud construction and street noises. Her leash manners are slowly improving but her latest fascination is squirrels so she continues to be calmly redirected. She is very polite when she approaches people on walks to say hello.  She has been left in her crate with and without the resident hounds present with no issues  Her “ wake-up” alarm currently is around 6am but she will quiet down when ignored.  Honeybee will be a wonderful addition to the family.
Check back for more information as she settles into her foster home. She is available for approved adopter visits.
