Malichi, racing name Book of Malichi, is a 4-year-old who, after 10 races, decided retirement sounded better. He is a big, sweet, gentle, friendly, low key and curious boy. He has been mistaken for a dalmatian due to his coat color and markings; he’s a very handsome guy. Some of Malichi’s favorite things include head rubs, peanut butter, all other treats, napping and walks. He’s a champion roacher. Loves being told what a good boy he is, which results in lots of tail wags.
Malichi has good leash manners and enjoys his walks. He gets excited when seeing other people and dogs, wanting to meet them. He is more animated around small dogs though has not met any up close. New sounds and sights do not bother him much; if he is alarmed by an unfamiliar or loud noise he recovers very quickly.
He gets along wonderfully with the resident greyhound. However, he shows too much interest in the resident cat and will do better in a home without cats.
Malichi is generally pretty quite at home when his person is around. He sleeps through the night and gets up between 7-8am. He can be vocal when left alone during the day. When allowed out and about the house (when his foster mom is around) he occasionally plays with the giant caterpillar, checks out the kitchen counters for food he swears is left for him, ensures the resident kitty is still in the master bedroom, steals socks left unattended, asks his foster mom for head rubs, and takes long naps on the dog bed. He is a low energy dog.
Malichi has not shown any resource guarding with food or toys. He has shown a propensity for counter surfing, which for him takes minimal effort since he is as tall as the kitchen counters. He is a gentle, sweet boy who loves being close to his person.
He will be available for approved adopter visits on 02/18.
