Terry

***Visit Terry at the Reston Meet ‘n Greet on Saturday, April 4th from 11am to 1pm.  At Weber’s Pet Supermarket, 2280 Hunters Woods Plaza, Reston VA.

Terry is a 2.25 year old handsome boy from Ireland with a sleek black coat. He did not run any races and has no regrets–preferring a life of leisure with long snoozes, lots of treats and ear scritches, and frequently told what a great guy he is. He is a sweet, friendly boy who loves being around people. He’s channeled his energy into investigating sidewalk traffic cones, greeting every person he meets with a full-body helicopter tail wag, and shadowing his foster humans from room to room.

Personality & Home Behavior

• Terry investigates everything: traffic cones on the sidewalk, found objects on walks, new toys, and any human willing to give him attention. He’s a goofy, curious explorer with medium energy who approaches the world like it’s full of things he hasn’t sniffed yet.
• He’s a people dog. He’ll follow you from room to room and is happiest right next to you on the couch or underfoot in the kitchen.
• He’s discovered toys and they’re now a favorite pastime; expect him to trot around proudly with a stuffie.
• Terry is food motivated, which makes training straightforward. He knows his name and responds well to praise.
• He gets along great with the resident greyhound; no resource guarding, no food aggression, no drama.

Walks & Outdoors

• Terry has good leash manners and does not pull.
• He walks at a comfortable pace and is easy to handle; a good partner for a morning walk or an evening stroll around the neighborhood.
• He is unfazed by street traffic and noise, perking up at sounds but never acting fearful.
• Squirrels and bunnies get a brief “stop and stare,” but he’s easily redirected and keeps walking when encouraged.
• Terry greets adults and children on walks with a wagging tail and obvious excitement. He’s met small dogs on walks and responded well.

House Training & Routine

• Terry has mastered stairs in a multi-story townhouse; going up and down full flights with no issues. He’d like this noted on his résumé.
• He does well with routine walks and food times.
• Terry is well-behaved and calm when given the run of the house; no counter-surfing, no destructive behavior, just a dog who likes to pick his own napping spot.

Grooming & Health

• Terry has clean white teeth, trimmed nails, and a full, soft black coat.
• He handles grooming like a champ; bathing, tooth brushing, ear cleaning, and nail trimming are all no problem.
• He’s at a healthy weight and eats well.

Ideal Home

Terry is a curious, affectionate companion who wants to be part of everything you do. He likes watching your favorite shows while you’re out of the house–don’t leave the remote unguarded or he might binge watch the latest season of Bridgerton! He’s a great fit for a variety of home/family setups…..a family with kids, single adopter,  someone who works from home, or a household with a flexible schedule.
