Time, racing name T’s Time N Tide, was selected to participate in The Greyhound Inmate ExperienceTGIE places retired racing greyhounds in the care and supervision of specially selected and trained inmates of a correctional institution.  The greyhounds and inmates engage in a 10-week training program.  The greyhounds transition from racer to pet.  The inmates experience unconditional love and learn to trust, be patient, and become compassionate.  A wonderful Win-Win adventure.

Time is a happy, busy girl. She is alert and lively on walks, enthusiastic about playing with any kind of squeaky toy, and adores food. Time lives in a suburban neighborhood with school buses, squirrels, bicycles, strollers, dogs on leash, deer in the backyard, foxes, and all kinds of people. All these new experiences require thoughtful attention. Sometimes, she will turn around to get a better look at things as they pass by. When Time pops up her “radar ears” you will know something interesting is happening! She is shy at first around new people. Like a cat, she warms up to you if you let her make the first move to approach you.

Time is fostered with a resident male greyhound and a cat. She didn’t mind when the resident greyhound was absent for a full day at the vet. She does well on walks with and without the other greyhound. Time mostly ignores the resident cat. Sometimes, she will stare and whine from her bed. The resident cat is completely disinterested in Time and walks near her to drink water from the greyhound water bowl. Based on these interactions, Time is probably cat workable with great patience (thinking several months plus) and caution. Currently, the cat is put in his room upstairs behind a locked door when Time has toy playtime downstairs. Time sleeps downstairs at night, while the rest of the household goes upstairs. She is quiet, with some occasional soft whining.

Time graduated on 01/06/2023 from The Greyhound Inmate Experience and will be available for approved adopter visits on 1/28. Please check back for updates as she settles into her foster home.
